Rosie Gallan
Rosie is a Community Development and Engagement practitioner with over 20 years’ experience working at the interface between government and with communities affected by change. Her philosophy is that people and communities have a right to have a say on issues that affect them and is committed to keeping them central to any decision-making process.
Rosie’s area of expertise is in facilitating community development, tenant participation and community-centred engagement practice within social housing, urban environments and regeneration. These roles have encompassed facilitation, leadership, programme development and management, evaluation, research, engagement design and delivery and change management.
Her teams have won multiple awards for tenant centred community development and engagement and Rosie herself has twice been awarded Australasian Housing Institute (NZ) Inspirational Colleague and the Porirua City’s Civic Award for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Rosie is studying towards a doctorate, researching the role social housing can play in developing communities using community development approaches and how this can increase wellbeing.
Community theatre is a creative outlet for Rosie, along with watching her son play cricket, reading, crochet and watching really good suspenseful TV.
